A copper mine needed to upgrade a sump system — weighing an upgrade in place against relocation to an adjacent pond — and to add automated level-based pump control plus a backup diesel generator and automatic transfer switch to keep the sump running through outages. CEI provided the electrical engineering. The arc-flash analysis included device evaluation, protective-device coordination, an arc-flash study, and labels. The design comprised four EI&C packages, and procurement assistance included a technical review and evaluation of bids from three vendors with a purchase recommendation.
