As part of retrofitting an existing building into a new clinical diagnostics laboratory, aging infrastructure and obsolete control components had to be modernized without compromising the facility’s standby power protection. CEI provided process programming to upgrade the UPS system, its batteries, and the control-system PLC, migrating the generator control system to a current processor platform and network and revising the code for a simpler load-shed scheme before recommissioning. CEI also delivered instrumentation and controls services for a life-safety generator backup, leaving the lab with modern, supportable standby controls.
